For over 20 years, The Environmental Health Strategy Center helped enact meaningful policy change to limit the use of harmful toxic chemicals. However, their work was mostly known to insiders — policy makers, scientists, academics, industry advocates and other like minded nonprofits. As they looked to take on new public health challenges, broaden their coalition and expand their grassroots movement, they needed a brand that was more approachable and easy to engage with. It started with a new name I created: Defend Our Health — which was short, memorable and also served as a call-to-action to rally supporters. From there, I helped them develop a whole new messaging system, support materials and a rebuilt web experience.
